Men's Basketball Will Hold Open Scrimmage Saturday
Oct. 29, 2001
PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Washington State men's basketball team will hold an intrasquad scrimmage at noon Saturday in Bohler Gymnasium.
The scrimmage will be open to the public and will serve as opportunity for fans to get a first hand look at the 2001-02 Cougars, under the direction of third-year head coach Paul Graham.
WSU posted 12 wins last season, doubling its victory total from the 1999-2000 campaign, and returns four starters.
Among those starters is senior Mike Bush (Riverside, Calif.) who led the Cougars with a 15.9 points per game average last season. He will not take part in the scrimmage because he is a starting wide receiver on the WSU football team that will take on UCLA at 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Martin Stadium. Other players who will sit out the scrimmage include sophomore Marcus Moore (Inglewood, Calif.) and junior Nick Graham (Stillwater, Okla.). Moore had his wisdom teeth removed Friday and Graham is recovering from a severely sprained right ankle.
Players in action Saturday include senior center J Locklier (Rock Hill, S.C.), the 2001 Pacific-10 Conference Newcomer of the Year.
Admission to the scrimmage is free.
