STANFORD, Calif. - On Thursday, Stanford senior midfielder Derek Shanahan will make a special visit to the ESPN.com moderated chat room to talk about the No. 3 Cardinal men's soccer team, who are currently in first place in the Pac-10 and are 13-1-0 overall.
Shanahan, a senior from St. Charles, Ill., has been a key component for the Cardinal so far this season. The midfielder has started all 14 games thus far, and is second on the team with seven goals scored and 18 total points. He has also recorded four assists for Stanford, along with 25 shots, seven of which are on goal.
Shanahan, a 2000 Pac-10 All-Academic Second Team selection, scored two goals and tallied one assist in two Pac-10 victories last week at home against Oregon State and Washington.
The senior was named the MVP of the adidas Cal Legacy Classic earlier this season. He finished with 21 shots, three goals scored, eight assists and 14 points during Stanford's 18-3-1 run last season.
The Cardinal will aim for its fifth straight victory tomorrow night, when it takes on UCLA at home at 7:30 p.m., the final regular season home match of the season. Shanahan and other Cardinal seniors will be honored in pregame festivities.
Morrison won't hit chat until Thursday at 11:30 a.m. PT. Feel free to drop him some questions now and we'll save them for his arrival.
