Women's Crew Wins Seven Races

Oct. 30, 2001

The Cal women's crew posted strong results at both the Head of the American and Head of the Oakland Estuary regattas over the weekend of October 27-28. Cal won a every sweep event it entered over the weekend for a total of seven golds.
With nearly all of last year's team, which placed sixth in the country, returning for another year, the weekend was a good way for Head Coach Dave O'Neill to evaluate the progress of the squad.
'We split the team pretty well among all the events, so it was nice to be able to do that and win everything,' said O'Neill. 'We do not focus too much on these fall head races, but it is always interesting to see how athletes and crews respond to competition. Overall, I am very pleased with the results. The training has been terrific as we keep our eyes set on the spring.'
