Cal Women's Golf trails by 16 strokes after Day 1 of Tournament

Oahu, HI - The Cal women's golf team is 16 shots behind first-place New Mexico (596) after the first day of the Rainbow Wahine Fall Golf Classic, held Tuesday and Wednesday in Oahu, HI. The Bears currently rank fifth among the 19 competing schools.

With a total score of 612, Cal is two stokes out of fourth place (Idaho, 610), four strokes out of third place (Baylor, 608), and eight strokes out of second (Arizona, 604).

The Bears have been led by Vikki Laing, who scored 74 and 76 in yesterday's rounds, and stands with a 150 stroke mark halfway through the tournamnent. She currently is tied for seventh among the individual competitors.

Play continues today in Oahu. The tournament is hosted by the University of Hawaii.
