Beaver Wrestlers In Pac-10 And National Rankings

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Oregon State is ranked second as a team in the first Pacific-10 wrestling rankings of the season, and the Beavers have seven individuals ranked among the top four in their weight class.

OSU, which placed third in the Pacific-10 Championships last season, is behind defending champion Arizona State in the initial conference rankings. ASU is ranked ninth nationally by Amateur Wrestling News and 12th by InterMat in the preseason, Oregon State is not ranked in AWN's top 20 and is ranked 23rd by InterMat.

Oregon State will wrestle its annual Intrasquad Meet on Saturday at 9 a.m. in Gill Coliseum.

Beaver senior 174-pounder Nathan Coy is ranked first in the Pac-10 after winning the conference title last season. Coy is ranked sixth nationally by AWN and seventh by InterMat.

OSU 133-pounder Nathan Navarro is ranked second in the Pac-10 as he moves up a weight class for his senior season. Navarro is ranked 10th by AWN and 12th by InterMat.

Oregon State senior heavyweight Jason Cooley is ranked third in the Pac-10 after being the conference runner-up last season. Cooley is ranked 12th by AWN and 17th by InterMat.

Beaver sophomore 165-pounder Jed Pennell is ranked second in the Pac-10 after being named the conference's Newcomer of the Year last season. He is ranked 18th by AWN and 19th by InterMat.

Other OSU wrestlers in the Pac-10 rankings are junior Michael Delaney, third at 125 pounds, senior Isaac Weber, second at 184 pounds, and junior Jason Lovell, third at 197 pounds.
