Oregon Volleyball Loses 3-0 To Oregon State In Dodge Civil War Match Up
Nov. 9, 2001
Oregon senior Monique Tobbagi had her 26th career double-double, but it wasn't enough as Oregon State (16-7, 9-5) defeated the Ducks, 30-29, 30-22, 30-27 in front of 1,325 fans at McArhtur Court Friday evening.
Tobbagi and senior setter Julie Gerlach were honored prior to the match as it was originally scheduled to be the Ducks' final home match of the season. Oregon will now play UCLA and USC Nov. 20 and 21 in rescheduled matches.
Tobbagi had her third 20-kill match of the season, had 11 digs and hit .326. Gerlach had three kills, nine digs and committed zero errors to hit .429.
'It is extremely difficult to be a student athlete in college,' Oregon head coach Carl Ferreira said. 'To say that you competed for four years is a big deal and I'm glad they were recognized.'
Gerlach is fifth all-time at Oregon with 2,607 assists and Tobbagi has 1,132 kills.
Oregon State was led by Gina Schmidt and Katrina Nelson, who had 15 and 12 kills, respectively. The Beavers had the edge in kills (52-47) digs (57-49) and blocks (8-7) to outscore Oregon.
Pac-10 play continues next week when Oregon travels to Southern California to face USC and UCLA.
