Women's Golfers Tied for 10th After Day 1 in Alabama

The UCLA women's golf team is in a tie for 10th place at the Auburn Derby - Tribute to USA Tournament at the Auburn University Golf Course.
The Bruins posted a team score of 310, 22-over par, but they are just two shots out of sixth place. Tennessee leads the field at 294, six-over par, followed by Georgia at 297 and Duke and Pepperdine at 301. The Bruins are tied with Oklahoma State and trail Texas and USC at 309. Tulsa and Auburn are tied for sixth at 308.
Individually for UCLA, sophomore Melissa Martin is tied for 12th place at 74 and senior Alicia Um is tied for 16th after posting a score of 75. Junior Vivan Phosomran is tied for 39th at 80, followed by sophomore Gina Umeck, who is tied for 50th at 81. Freshman Charlotte Mayorkas shot an 84 and is tied for 62nd.
Arizona's Lorena Ochoa is the first round leader after posting a score of 67, five-under par. Tennessee's Young-A Yang is second at 68, followed by Auburn's Kimberly Strong at 69.
Second and third round competition will continue over the weekend.
