Women's Tennis Impressive at Second Day of Eck Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Arizona freshman Marie-Pier Pouliot upset No. 61-ranked Nina Vaughan of Notre Dame, 6-1, 6-2, Saturday at the Eck Classic. Pouliot accounted for one of five singles victories for the Cats on the day.

UA sophomores Debbie Larocque, Perrine Pernin and freshmen Maja Mlakar and Daniela Torres also recorded singles wins.

In doubles action, the Wildcats were lead by the duo of Larocque and Mlakar who earned a pair of 8-5 victories over Texas A&M's Ashley Hedberg and Jessica Roland and Indiana's team of Amanda Field and Martina Grimm.

The Cats wrap up play at the Eck Classic Sunday when they face Texas A&M in singles at 9 a.m. CST and the Aggies in doubles at 11 a.m. CST.
