No. 4 Women's Soccer Heads To Postseason For Fourth Consecutive Year

Stanford, Calif. - For the 11th time in 12 seasons the No. 4 Stanford University women's soccer team received an NCAA Tournament bid. The Cardinal received the fifth seed and earned the right to host the first and second rounds of the Women's College Cup.

Stanford (13-3-2) will battle Denver (16-2-2) in the second game of the first round on Friday night at 7 p.m. on Maloney Field. No. 14 Saint Mary's (14-2-2) and No. 17 California (12-6-2) will play the first game at 4:30 p.m. The winners of both matches will play Sunday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. for the right to advance to the third round.

Today the NCAA announced the 64-team field that will compete for the Women's Soccer National Championship. The semifinals and finals will be played at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, on December 7 and 9.

The bid marks the fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance by the Cardinal. Stanford defeated San Jose State last year in the first round 4-1, before losing at BYU 5-0 in the second round.

Five teams from the Pac-10 Conference were represented in the 64-team field, with UCLA receiving the three seed. USC, Washington and California were also awarded bids.
