Bowl Affiliates With Pac-10

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - The Bowl will match teams from thePacific-10 and Big East conferences, beginning in 2002. The bowl currentlyis affiliated with the Big East and Big 12.

Under the new format, the Big East will send either its second- orthird-place team or Notre Dame, if the Fighting Irish are available afterthe Bowl Championship Series selections. The Pac-10 will send itsfourth-place team.

'This partnership allows us to maintain our affiliation with a very strongconference like the Big East, while providing a great destination withinclose proximity for all of the fans in the Pac-10 Conference,' bowlpresident John Junker said.

This year's Bowl is Dec. 29 at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix.

The game will feature the fifth selection from the Big 12 against the secondor third selection from the Big East - or Notre Dame.
