Megan Kakadelas Named Pac-10 Women's Soccer Freshman Of The Year

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Forward/midfielder Megan Kakadelas (Carlsbad/La Costa Canyon HS) was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. Kakadelas helped the Women of Troy to a 10-6-2 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the conference with a 5-3-1 mark. In 18 games this season, Kakadelas led the team with 20 shots on goal, recorded three goals and two game-winning goals.

It is the first time in USC history that a Trojan has been named as Freshman of the Year.

Kakadelas also earned second team All-Pac-10 honors along with sophomore midfielder Megan Abbamonto. Freshman defender Kaitlyn Pruett was also named honorable mention.

USC will play Pepperdine in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday (Nov. 16) at 11 a.m. at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA. The winner advances to the second round against the UCLA-Cal State Fullerton winner.
