TAYLOR NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

UCLA sophomore forward Matt Taylor has been named the Pac-10 Men's Soccer Player of the Week for Nov. 5-11.

Taylor, from Irvine, Calif., scored two goals and recorded one assist as UCLA closed out the regular season with wins over Oregon State and No. 10 Washington last week. In the 1-0 victory over the Beavers, Taylor netted the game's lone goal for his second game-winner on the year. Against the Huskies, he keyed the Bruins' two comebacks. Taylor assisted on the goal that tied the game at 1-1 in the first half. He then scored on a bicycle kick with 1:26 left to play, sending the match into overtime. UCLA would win, 3-2 in OT.

Taylor's goals were his fourth and fifth of the season. He now ranks second on the team in scoring with five goals and 12 points.

UCLA (10-6-4 overall, 5-2-1 Pac-10), which concluded regular-season play last weekend, must await its fate in the Pac-10 title race. Stanford (14-4-1, 4-1-1) has two matches remaining on its schedule, and with some help from the Cardinal's opponents, UCLA could clinch at least a share of the Pac-10 title.

This is the first weekly honor for Taylor and UCLA's eighth Player of the Week honor all-time.
