Tami Halleck Named US Bank Woman Of Distinction For November

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Tami Halleck has been honored as the recipient of the US Bank OSU Woman of Distinction award for the month of November, US Bank announced today.
The award recognizes outstanding female student-athletes at OSU based on academic achievement and community involvement.
Halleck, a junior volleyball player from Salem, Ore., carries a 3.71 grade point average as a biology major, with minors in French and chemistry. After graduation, she plans to attend medical school and would like to become a pediatrician.
She volunteers once or twice a month as a clinic coordinator at the Sunflower House medical clinic in Corvallis, and she shadowed several doctors at a clinic in Salem over the summer.
Halleck is the team relations chair on OSU's Student Athlete-Advisory Committee. She recently organized a group of athletes to decorate the football locker room before the team left for a recent road game.
Last month, she served as a referee at a Special Olympics volleyball tournament at Gill Coliseum, and she has done various other volunteer activities as well. She has participated in the Read Across America program, worked a food drive before a recent football game, and helped out at car wash to benefit the Red Cross.
