WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- STANFORD junior outside hitter Logan Tom has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Volleyball Player of the Year, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.

Tom, a three-time All-Pac-10 selection, becomes the eighth different Stanford player to garner Pac-10 Player of the Year honors and the fifth time in the last seven years a Stanford player has won the award. Tom was instrumental in leading Stanford to at least a share of the 2001 Pac-10 title, marking the ninth time the Cardinal have shared or won the Pac-10 championship in the 16 seasons of Pac-10 volleyball.

Tom, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, leads the Conference in kills (4.93 kills per game), points (5.95 points per game) and service aces (0.52 sapg). She's second in the Conference in digs (3.43 dpg). Tom closed out Pac-10 play earning an unprecedented three consecutive Pac-10 Player of the Week honors and captured the award five times during the 2001 season.

A 6-1 outside hitter from Normal, Ill., Nnamani and Tom provided the Cardinal attack with a potent 1-2 punch as the two topped the Pac-10 with a combined 8.87 kills per game. Nnamani's 3.94 kills per game were most among Pac-10 freshmen, as were her 4.48 points per game. Nnamani earned Pac-10 Player of the Week honors on Sept. 10 after hitting .384 with 44 kills (4.00 kpg) and 30 digs (2.73 dpg) in wins over No. 4 Penn State, No. 25 Texas and No. 18 Texas A&M respectively.

Stanford coach John Dunning has been tabbed the Pac-10 Coach of the Year after guiding Stanford to at least a share of the Pac-10 title. In his first season on The Farm, he has guided the Cardinal to a 25-2 regular season record, a 16-1 Pac-10 record (one match remains vs. Arizona State, Nov. 24) and a No. 3 ranking in both the USA Today/AVCA Coaches and Volleyball Magazine polls. Dunning has a career record of 462-104 (.816) in 17 seasons. Prior to his arrival at Stanford this season, Dunning spent 16 years at Pacific where he led the Tigers to the NCAA title in 1985 and 1986.
