Vikings Vex Devils In OT, 79-69

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Center Billy Feeney scored a game-high 20 points to leadPortland State 79-69 over Arizona State in coach Joel Sobotka's homecomingTuesday.

Vikings coach Sobotka attended Arizona State and was a student assistantcoach under Bill Frieder in 1993.

Anthony Lackey scored 18 points and Aaron Fitzgerald had 16 as PortlandState scored the final 14 points after losing a six-point lead in the last 2:31of regulation and falling behind by four points in overtime.

The Vikings, 2-0, after road victories over Boise State and Arizona State,were 1-15 on the road last season.

Tommy Smith scored 12 of his team-high 14 points in the second half forArizona State (1-1).

Fitzgerald hit a three-pointer from the left baseline with 2:31 remaining togive Portland State a 65-59 lead before Arizona State scored the final sixpoints of regulation.

Smith scored on a baseline move before Tanner Shell tipped in a missed shotto make it 65-63 with one minute remaining.

Lackey, who had two three-pointers in the final 7:33, missed the front endof a one-and-one situation with 26.4 seconds remaining to give the ball toArizona State.

Smith made a tip-in with 15 seconds remaining to send the game intoovertime.
