UCLA Signs Two Golf Standouts

Head coaches Brad Sherfy and Carrie Leary announced the signings of two top golfers for the men's and women's teams.

For the men's program, UCLA received a letter-of-intent from Spencer Levin of Elk Grove, CA.

The women's program announced the signing of Susie Mathews of Rosslyn Park, Australia.

Levin earned 2001 AJGA Second-Team All-American honors and was ranked 12th nationally among U.S. junior amateur players. He won the FTWT Western Regional Tournament in May and advanced to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Junior Amateur in July. He also recorded five other top 10 finishes on the junior circuit.

Mathews, ranked fourth among Australian amateurs, finished second in the 2001 Australian Amateur and made the cut as an amateur playing in the Australian Women's Open after firing a score of 67 in the second round. She is a member of the Australian Women's National Team.
