ASU Harriers Garner Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - Six men and 10 women on Arizona State's cross country squads were named to this year's Pac-10 All-Academic teams, conference commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday, Nov. 20.

Two-time All-American senior Lisa Aguilera earned first-team honors with a 3.55 GPA in finance/computer science. On the women's second-team are All-American senior Kelly MacDonald (3.64 in art), sophomore Beth Martin (3.86 in geological studies) and senior Kristin McFerron (3.66 in recreation).

ASU had two representatives on the men's second-team in two-time All-American junior Fasil Bizuneh and senior J.R. Cox. Bizuneh holds a 3.25 GPA in chemical engineering, while Cox is majoring in marketing with a 3.66 GPA.

Sun Devil men named to the honorable mention team were senior Cheyne Jones, sophomore Dan Maher, junior Jeremy Rasmussen and sophomore Juan Reyes.

ASU women named to the honorable mention team were sophomore Cynthia Atencio, junior Joanie Baca, junior Candi Criscione, sophomore Jen Hurbis, senior Nikki Simmons and senior Brianna Torres.

To be eligible for selection to the Pac-10 All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be either a starter or significant substitute.
