Eight Volleyball Players Earn Pacific-10 All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Eight Oregon State volleyball players have been named to the Pacific-10 All-Academic Team, which the league announced Monday.

Senior Gina Schmidt was a first team selection, while seven others received honorable mention recognition.

Schmidt carries a 4.0 grade point average as a business major. She was a first team pick last season as well after earning second team honors as a sophomore in 1999.

Receiving honorable mention honors were senior Jessica Papell (3.01/sociology), juniors Megan McMillan (3.22/pre-therapy), Katrina Nelson (3.60/pre-education) and Nikki Neuburger (3.01/business), sophomores Laura Collins (3.66/undecided) and K.C. Frederic (3.91/undecided) and redshirt freshman Amanda Eggert (3.54/liberal studies).

Nelson and Papell were also honorable mention selections last season.

In order to be considered for the team, an athlete must be in her second year at the school, carry a minimum 3.0 grade point average, and be a starter or significant reserve.
