Men's Hoops Rallies To Defeat UC Riverside, 73-64

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Awvee Storey scored four of his 16 points in the final48 seconds as Arizona State overcame a 10-point deficit in second half for a73-64 victory over UC Riverside Tuesday night.

Storey's 18-footer in the last 48 seconds gave Arizona State (2-2) a 69-63lead. His follow-up shot with 31 seconds left brought it to 71-64.

Freshman guard Jason Braxton made two three-pointers in the final nineminutes, the first giving Arizona State a 55-54 lead.

Mark Miller led Riverside (0-2) with 11 points, while Vili Morton and JohnGalbreath added 10 apiece.

Braxton, Kenny Crandall, Shawn Redhage and Chad Prewitt had eight pointsapiece for Arizona State.

Storey, who led the Pacific-10 Conference in rebounding last season, had 10rebounds while recording his first double-double of the season.

Arizona State held Riverside without a field goal until Miller's layup with11:34 remaining in the first half while building a 23-6 lead.

Arizona State, which lost a 15-point lead in a home loss to Portland Stateon Nov. 20, led 27-10 before Riverside went on an extended run to end the firsthalf and start the second.

Cal-Riverside outscored Arizona State 44-17 in the next 22 minutes to take a54-44 lead on Ted Bell's three-pointer with 12:41 remaining.
