Huskies Run Past Rebels, 77-64

SEATTLE (AP) - Washington's Curtis Allen scored a career-high 21 points anddished out eight assists in the Huskies' 77-64 victory over the UNLV Runnin'Rebels on Wednesday night.

Allen, who hit four of his first five shots and had 12 points in the firsthalf, is the fourth different player to lead the Huskies in scoring in theirfive games.

UNLV (2-2) held a 50-47 lead with 12:10 remaining in the game, butWashington stormed back with a 22-6 run over the next nine minutes to takecontrol.

Dalron Johnson scored 23 for the Runnin' Rebels, including nine of theirfirst 11 points of the second half, but did not score in the final 14:45 of thegame. Chris Richardson added 11.

UNLV shot 39 percent and had only two steals.

Washington (4-1) played solid defense, blocking six UNLV shots. Huskiescenter David Dixon set the tone with a block on the first possession. Heblocked four shots in all.

Doug Wrenn co-led Washington with 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds.Grant Leep added 10 points, hitting three of five from 3-point range.

The teams battled back and forth with neither holding a lead bigger thanthree points over the first 15 minutes. There were 15 lead changes during thatstretch.

Erroll Knight's 3-pointer from the top of the key gave the Huskies a 32-26lead with 4:34 left in the half. His layup before the halftime buzzer gaveWashington a 36-33 advantage.
