Portland Edges Ducks, 79-78

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Coky Rochin hit 1-of-2 free throws with 12 secondsleft to hand Portland a 79-78 victory over Oregon on Sunday, the first timePortland has beat Oregon since 1964.

Adam Quick had a team-high 20 points, including a 3-pointer that tied thegame at 78-78 with 12 seconds left.

Rochin's winning free throw was set up when he intercepted a pass intendedfor Anthony Lever at the Ducks' foul line. Lever then fouled Rochin in aneffort to prevent the turnover.

Rochin had previously missed 3-of-6 attempts down the stretch. This time, hemissed the first of two shots, but hit the second to put the Pilots (3-2) aheadby one.

Rochin finished with 18 points, but made only 4-of-12 shots from the field.He was 10-of-16 from the line. The 6-foot-7 senior also had a team-high 10rebounds.

The Ducks (4-2) were big favorites coming in, but gave an uninspiredperformance, particularly in the first half, which ended with Portland ahead40-33.

The Ducks had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but James Davis shot aleaning 3-pointer that bounced off the rim.

Sophomore forward Luke Jackson scored a career-high 28 points for Oregon,while point guard Luke Ridnour had 17 points and 7 assists.
