2002 UCLA Gymnastics Squad makes Season Debut
Dec. 5, 2001
The 2002 UCLA gymnastics team made its season debut at the annual 'Meet the Bruins' event this past Sunday in the John Wooden Center.
Performing before a crowd of over 1,000 people, the back-to-back defending national champion Bruins displayed their skills on the uneven bars and balance beam and unveiled new floor exercise routines from Kristin Parker, Malia Jones and Jamie Dantzscher.
Peppered throughout the performances were several question and answer sessions with coaches and gymnasts as well as prize giveaways. Fans were also treated to a special appearance by former UCLA gymnast and 2001 World Championship team member, Mohini Bhardwaj.
The event ended with the team and fans meeting each other in a post-event social where the Bruins signed autographs for an hour and a half. UCLA's season begins on Jan. 11 at the Super Six Challenge at Florida. The Bruins' first home meet is Jan. 20 at Pauley Pavilion against Pac-10 contender Arizona State.
