Women's Volleyball Lands Three On AVCA Pacfic All-Region Team

Stanford, Calif. - Cardinal volleyball players Logan Tom (Salt Lake City, UT), Sara McGee (Davis, CA) and Ogonna Nnamani (Normal, IL) were named to the AVCA Pacific All-Region team today. Nnamani was also tabbed as the Pacific Region Freshman of the Year.

The 12-member team was dominated by the Pac-10 Conference with 10 of the 12 selections. Stanford, Southern California and Arizona had three members each while UCLA had one. Pepperdine landed the remaining two selections.

Tom, McGee and Nnamani were all 2001 first-team All-Pac-10 picks while Tom was named conference Player of the Year and Nnamani was honored as the league's Freshman of the Year.

The third-ranked Cardinal are hosting one of four regionals this weekend, hosting No. 6 Wisconsin, No. 13 Utah and No. 15 Texas A&M.

Stanford will face Utah on Friday, December 7 at 7 p.m. in Maples Pavilion while Wisconsin will take on Texas A&M at 5 p.m. The winners will meet on Saturday, December 8 at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to the Final Four in San Diego, Calif.
