Bruin Women Announce Early Track and Field Signings

UCLA Head coach Jeanette Bolden has signed four recruits for the Bruins women's track and field team - Ashley Caldwell, Sheena Gordon, Dawn Harper and Jenna Timinsky will join the Bruins in the fall of 2002 as true freshmen.
Ashley Caldwell is a distance runner from Los Gatos, CA (Los Gatos HS). She was the Central Coast CIF 800m champion and has a personal best time of 2:10. She also competes in cross country and the 1600m.
Sheena Gordon is a high and triple jumper from Erie, PA (McDowell HS). She is considered the nation's #1 high jump prospect and one of the top three triple jumpers in the nation. She won the Class AAA high jump, long jump and triple jump and also placed second in the 100m hurdles. She is the National Prep Indoor Record Holder in the triple jump and was named Pennsylvania Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Gordon has personal bests of 6-0 1/2 in the high jump and 42-0 in the triple jump.
Dawn Harper is a sprinter-hurdler from Belleville, IL (East ST. Louis HS). She comes to UCLA on the recommendation of former Bruin standout and Olympic gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Harper is the Illinois State Hurdles champion, winning the 100m high hurdles with the third best national time of 13.54, and the 300m low hurdles in 44.18.
Jenna Timinsky is a distance runner from Encinitas, CA (San Dieguito Academy). She is a four-time CIF 800m and San Diego High School Cross Country champion. She finished fifth in the 800m at the CA State meet with a time of 2:09.12 (second best in California and eighth best nationally).
