Oregon Defeats Pepperdine, 88-64

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Frederick Jones scored 21 points to lead Oregon to an88-64 win over Pepperdine on Friday.

Luke Ridnour added a career-high 20 points for Oregon (5-3) and Luke Jacksonhad 12 points as the Ducks ended a three-game losing streak. It was their firstgame at McArthur Court since Nov. 17.

Jones, who didn't start for the first time in 20 games, responded with a7-for-13 shooting night from the field to go with nine rebounds and a team-highsix assists.

Jimmy Miggins led the Waves (4-4) with 17 points.

The Ducks trailed 7-6 with 14:24 remaining in the first half. But Ridnourscored five straight points to spark a 22-9 run that ended with Oregon taking a28-16 lead with just under six minutes to play before halftime.

The Waves, who made just six of their first 28 shots, cut the Ducks' lead to33-26 on a lay up by Micah McKinney with two minutes left.

But Jones followed with a 3-pointer, then added a tip-in at the buzzer asOregon ended the half on an 9-3 run to go up 41-29.

Pepperdine got the first basket of the second half on a layup by BoomerBrazzle, but then Jones hit a 3-pointer at the other end as Oregon went on a12-2 run to go up 53-23 with just more than four minutes gone.

Two minutes later, James Davis, Anthony Lever and Jones connected onconsecutive 3-pointers for Oregon to blow the game wide open, 64-38 with 10:42to play.
