JAN. 6, 2002 -- 6:30 P.M. MST

ASU VS. DUCKS: The Arizona State men's basketball team (8-4, 1-2), under fourth-year head coach Rob Evans, meets the Oregon Ducks (10-3, 3-0) at 6:30 p.m. MST on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Wells Fargo Arena. Tim Healey and Lionel Hollins have the radio call on the Sun Devil Radio Network. ASU topped Oregon State 67-58 on Thursday while Oregon topped Arizona 90-80.

VS. OREGON STATE (JAN. 4): Arizona State had just seven turnovers, the second-fewest in the Rob Evans' era, and topped Oregon State 67-58 on Thursday behind Chad Prewitt's career-high 25 points. Tommy Smith posted 18 points, including 3-of-4 from the three-point stripe, eight boards, six assists and three steals while Kenny Crandall added 14 points. The only game ASU has taken care of the ball better in Evans' 103 games was at Washington on Feb. 6, 1999, when it had just five. ASU led 46-32 at the 16:44 mark but OSU cut it to 53-51 at the 8:36 mark. ASU outscored OSU 14-7 down the stretch led by Prewitt's five points and one assist.

SHOOT IT, PREWITT: Senior Chad Prewitt is averaging 20.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the past four games and is shooting 81.5 percent from the foul line in that time (22-of-27). Prewitt, the first four-year player in the Rob Evans' era at ASU, has five 20-point games on the year (12 games) after posting just two in his first three seasons (89 games). He is shooting 67.6 percent (68-of-118) from the field on the year and 75 percent (45-of-60) from the free throw line.

THE OREGON GAME (DEC. 20): ASU shot 51.9 percent from the field (28-of-54) and was 10-of-19 (.526) from the three-point stripe but allowed the Ducks to shoot 57.1 percent (32-of-56) in their 103-90 loss on Dec. 20 in the Pac-10 opener. In Rob Evans's 270 games as a head coach, it marked just the third time an opponent had scored in triple-digits in regulation and it is the most his ASU team has given up in regulation. Curtis Millage was 5-of-8 from the field and had 15 points in his first Pac-10 game, and Tommy Smith led ASU with 16 points. The Sun Devils and the Ducks were tied at 52 at the 18:03 mark of the second half but Oregon went on a 14-0 run.

*ASU's 10 three-pointers made at Oregon on Dec. 20 is the most since it made 10 at UCLA on Jan. 22, 2000. ASU also was 24-of-36 (.667) from the free throw line at Oregon, but Jason Braxton was 3-of-11 (.273). The rest of the Sun Devils were 21-of-25 (.840).

*ASU is 6-1 at home and has won seven of its past nine games since starting the season 1-2 and has held its past three opponents to just 57.3 points per game.

*The last ASU opponent to score 100 points in Tempe was third-ranked Arizona on Feb. 27, 1988 (101-73). The current streak of an opponent not scoring 100 points in Tempe stands at 226 games.

*After starting the season 3-of-19 (.158) from beyond the three-point arc, junior Curtis Millage is 7-of-13 (.538) in his past five games. He also has a team-leading 23 steals.

*ASU was 18-of-20 (.900) from the free throw line against Canisius on Dec. 28, its best mark since Jan. 24, 1998, when it went 15-of-16 (.938) at Oregon.

*Kyle Dodd has 31 assists and just six turnovers in 246 minutes. In the past four games, He has nine assists and no turnovers (84 minutes).

*ASU leads the series with UO 29-23, while Rob Evans is 3-4 against the Ducks and Ernie Kent. ASU swept the series last year for the first time since 1992-93, which was the second-longest drought among ASU Pac-10 foes (ASU has swept UCLA just once, in 1979-80).

*Sophomore Kenny Crandall is 20-of-45 (.444) from the three-point stripe on the year.

*Shawn Redhage has made 155-of-187 (.829) from the free throw line in his career, the best mark in ASU history.
