WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - ARIZONA STATE senior center Chad Prewitt has been named the Pacific-10 Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 1 - 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Prewitt, from Phoenix, Ariz., averaged 26.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in sweeping the Oregon schools last week. The victories helped even up the Sun Devils Pac-10 record at 2-2 on the season.

Against Oregon State, Prewitt scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting with eight rebounds and two assists. He posted a new career-high two nights later in the win over Oregon with 27 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field, 13-of-14 from the free throw line and 12 rebounds .

For the week, Prewitt shot 17-of-29 (.586) from the field, 2-of-5 (.400) from three-point range and 16-of-19 (.842) from the free throw line.

It is the first weekly award for Prewitt, the 18th all-time honor for the Sun Devils.
