Wrestling Drops Close One to Columbia, 18-12

Davis, CALIF. - Stanford (3-4) dropped a close match to Columbia this afternoon on the campus of UC Davis, 18-12. Down by a 12-9 margin with three bouts remaining, the Cardinal was unable to pull out the victory in a tight contest.
Junior Justin Walker (Otis Orchards, WA/East Valley) tallied his 13th win of the season at 133 pounds, giving him a 6-1 dual record to lead the team. Walker took the bout 11-6. Junior Harold Penson (Richmond Heights, OH/Richmond Heights) earned his 10th victory of the season, handing Columbia's Jeff Anderson a 5-3 loss at 184 pounds. Freshman Brad Metzler (Omaha, NE/Westside) and senior Levi Weikel-Magden (Boardman, OR) also notched decisions for the Cardinal.
Stanford will compete against Southern Oregon tonight at 5 p.m. The Cardinal will stay in Davis tomorrow for the Aggie Invitational.
