Holly Smith Completes Oregon Softball Coaching Staff

Holly Smith is staying within the Pacific-10 Conference as she enters her first coaching stint. Smith was a three year letterwinner at Arizona State University (1997-1999) where she was a three-time NFCA Academic All-American and also earned GTE District VIII first team Academic All-America honors.

Smith spent her time as Arizona State's starting short stop and was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player of the Year in 1997 and 1999. The Suisun, Calif., native was also a 2nd team all-Pac-10 seleciton in 1999 and was a three time Pac-10 All Academic honoree.

In her first season with the Sun Devils, Smith made an immediate impact and earned Pac-10 honorable mention honors after starting all 57 games and hitting .285 with 47 hits. Smith tied for the team high with nine doubles and had two triples one home run and a team-high 35 RBI. The 35 RBI is fourth all-time on ASU's single season list.

Smith earned her Bachelor's degree from ASU in Communication and Justice Studies in 2000.
