Sallai, Gaal Both Advance To Semifinals At Pac-10 Championships

Seattle, Wash.--Freshmen Orsolya Sallai and Nora Gaal both won twice Saturday to advance to the Flight IV singles bracket semifinals at the Pacific-10 Championships played at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
In the first round, Sallai beat Kristen Case of California 6-3, 3-6, 7-5. Sallai continued her winning ways in the quarterfinals by defeating Washington's Erin Boisclair 7-6, 6-1.
Gaal won her first match against Washington's Amy Allen 6-0, 6-1. Gaal continued her success by beating Arizona's Brooke Taylor 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
'This is the best tournament in the country to get our players back on track after the holidays,' said WSU Coach Cari Groce. 'We competed against some of the best players in the country.'
The three-day competition continues Sunday at 9:00 a.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. There are four singles brackets and three doubles flights. The top three singles flights include a consolation bracket.
