Pac-10 Wrestling Dates Changed

Jan. 22, 2002

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The 2002 Pacific-10 Conference Wrestling Championships have been moved up to Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 at Oregon State's Gill Coliseum. The tournament had originally been scheduled for Sunday, March 3 and Monday, March 4, it was moved at the request of the Pacific-10 Conference.

When the meet was originally scheduled, OSU was to have hosted a women's basketball game on March 2. However, when the Pac-10 basketball tournaments were put in place, that sport's schedule was moved ahead a week and Gill Coliseum became available on both weekend dates.

To allow more fans to see both days of the tournament without having conflicts with the work week, the tournament was moved to March 2 and March 3.

Tickets are sold through the OSU Athletic Ticket Office. Tickets for adults are $25 for a tournament pass or $7 per session, for seniors and students, tickets are $21 for a tournament pass or $6 per session.

The tournament includes four sessions. On Saturday, March 2, Session 1 begins at 11 a.m. and includes championship preliminaries, championship quarterfinals and wrestleback preliminaries, Session 2 begins at 6 p.m. and includes championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals. On Sunday, March 3, Session 3 begins at 11 a.m. and includes consolation semifinals and fifth-place and third-place finals, Session 4 begins at 6 p.m. and includes the championship finals.

The top four finishers at each weight, plus three wild-card wrestlers selected by the conference's coaches, will advance to the NCAA Championships that will be held March 21-23 at Albany, N.Y.
