Track Squads Return for Second Indoor Meet in Seattle

EUGENE - In their second of four indoor track and field trips to Seattle this season, the University of Oregon men's and women's track and field teams prepares for the UW Quad Classic, Sat., Feb. 2. The Ducks will match up against Boise State, Eastern Washington, Portland, Portland State, UCLA, and Washington in the Dempsey Indoor Center.

Tentative Duck men's entries include sprinters Cory Gray and Eric Dahl, hurdlers Micah Harris, Terry Ellis, Brandon Holliday, Sean Sanderson, and Justin Weiler, middle distance runner Simon Kimata, distance runners Ryan Andrus, Adam Berqquist, Eric Logsdon, John Lucas, Noel Paulson, Seth Pilkington and Daniel Seddiqui, high jumpers Jason Boness, Kyley Johnson and Jake Horner, horizontal jumpers Foluso Akinradewo and Derek Strubel, pole vaulters Trevor Woods, Cody Howell and Jason Slye, throwers Rian Ingrim, Adam Kriz and James March, and multi-eventers Santiago Lorenzo and Billy Pappas.

Last weekend, senior Santiago Lorenzo led the Duck decathletes in their indoor season multi-event debut, posting the world's second-leading heptathlon score (5,608) in Friday's and Saturday's win in the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison, Wis. Also placing top three overall were redshirt senior teammate Billy Pappas (second, 5,446) and redshirt junior Jason Slye (third, 5,064), with Pappas' mark moving him to third on the U.S. season best list, while Slye's mark was a 75-point personal best (which included an NCAA provisional mark and six-inch personal pole vault best of 17-0 3/4).

In two weekends, the Duck men travel to the Husker Invitational, Fri., Feb. 8 in Lincoln Neb., and the Duck women return to Seattle for the Washington Invitational, Sat., Feb. 9.
