No. 12 Women's Gymnastics Cruises To 197.075-194.500 Victory Against No. 15 Denver

STANFORD, Calif. - Coming off its best meet of the season Friday against Arizona, the No. 12-ranked Stanford women's gymnastics squad produced yet another show-stopping performance on Sunday at Burnham Pavilion as the Cardinal defeated Denver 197.075-194.500.

With its fourth straight victory after suffering a loss at Minnesota in the season opener, the Cardinal improves to 4-1. Denver falls to 2-2 after dropping its second consecutive decision.

Stanford outscored the Pioneers in three of the four events, while each school notched a 48.900 on the fourth apparatus- the vault. The Cardinal held a season-best 49.550-48.100 edge on the bars, a 49.250-48.550 margin on the balance beam and a season-best 49.375-48.950 advantage on the floor exercise.

Cardinal gymnasts snagged first place finishes on all four apparatuses in the victory. Sophomore Caroline Fluhrer (Seattle, Wash.) occupied the top spot on the vault, recording a 9.900 to lead the charge and also finished tied for second place on the uneven bars and floor exercise. Senior Becky Meldrum (Mertztown, Pa.) posted a season-best 9.950 to lead all performers on the uneven bars. Sophomore Lise L�veill� excelled on both the balance beam and floor exercise, snaring the top spot in each event with a 9.925 on both apparatuses.

Senior Lindsay Wing (Cypress, Texas) provided Stanford with yet another consistent performance, notching second place finishes on the uneven bars and balance beam. Eight Cardinal gymnasts posted scores of 9.900 or better on the day in all four events.

Stanford will now travel to Los Angeles next Sunday afternoon to battle No. 8 UCLA in a Pac-10 showdown at 2 p.m.
