Men's Golf Finishes Seventh At Ping Intercollegiate

Senior Kevin Stadler shot a seven-under-par 206 to lead the No. 7 USC men's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the Ping Arizona Intercollegiate held on the Raven Golf Course in Tucson, Ariz., on Mon.-Tues. (Feb. 5-6).

USC, which led all teams after shooting 281 in the first round, shot 282 in round two and 298 in the final round to finish with a total of 861--13 strokes back of tourney champion Fresno State. Oklahoma State was second with 849, while Pepperdine was third at 852.

Stadler's 206 tied his career-low set at the Red River Classic this past fall. He shot rounds of 68, 66 (another career-low) and 72 to place three strokes back of tourney champ Hunter Mahan, who shot 203. Nick Watney of Fresno State was second with 205, while Ricky Barnes of Arizona (209) was fourth and Peter Tomasulo of California and Chris Nallen of UCLA tied for fifth (209).

Also for USC, freshman Ben Hayes tied for 61st (222), while junior David Oh and freshmen Nico Bollini and James Choi tied for 64th (223).

The Trojans are next in action at the Taylor Made Intercollegiate in Waikoloa, Haw., on Feb. 13-15.
