Ducks Add Toeaina to Football Recruiting Fold
Feb. 7, 2002
EUGENE - Albert Toeaina, who was ranked among the top-10 high school offensive linemen in the country by Student Sports magazine, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the University of Oregon next fall, according to the Ducks' head coach Mike Bellotti.
The 6-4, 345-pound Pittsburg (Calif.) High School standout and one of California's top trio of interior offensive stalwarts, was listed as one of the Tacoma News Tribune's Western One Hundred honorees and was considered by some as the most physically dominant lineman during last month's CaliFlorida all-star game. He also elicited inclusion as one of 10 players on the Contra Costa Time's top Cream of the Crop listing of East Bay-area standouts.
The all-league and all-area selection utilized quick feet and tremendous strength to maximize his enormous frame to the tune of more than 60 pancake blocks his senior year.
The addition of Toeaina increases the Ducks' number of football signees to 22 junior college and high school recruits and marks the school's third offensive lineman committed to join the squad when practice commences in August.
