WSU Falls To Arizona 106-60

PULLMAN, Wash. - Julie Brase led a contingent of six Arizona players who scored in double figures with a career-high 22 points in the Wildcats' 106-60 victory over the Washington State Cougars in Pacific-10 Conference women's basketball action, Saturday at Friel Court.
Elizabeth Pickney (21 points), Dee-Dee Wheeler (19 points), Robin Roberson (19 points), Danielle Adefeso (12 points) and Aimee Grzyb (10 points) joined Brase in double-digits for Arizona (12-12, 8-7).
Brittney Hawks led the Cougars (2-22, 0-14) with 20 points and a game-high nine rebounds. It was Hawks' 18th game reaching double-figures in points and her fourth 20-point effort of the season.
The Wildcats found the bucket to be an inviting place as they converted 40-of-68 field goal attempts (58.8 percent) for the game. Conversely, the Cougars shot 24-of-69 (34.8 percent) from the field.
Arizona shot out of the gates by opening the game with seven consecutive points in the first 1:42 of the contest.
The Cougars would counter with a 14-3 outburst to take a 14-10 advantage at the 14:07 mark of the first half. Hawks' would account for nine points during the run.
However, Arizona would respond with an 11-0 run, which included seven points by Brase, to open a 21-14 lead with 10:56 remaining. The Wildcats would eventually head into halftime with a 51-28 advantage.
