Husky Golfers Finish 6th at Waikoloa Intercollegiate

Waikoloa - The Washington men's golf team finished sixth at the 20-team Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate. The 14th-ranked Huskies turned in a score of 877, including a final round of 297, to finish 17 strokes behind tournament champions Georgia Tech. The top-ranked Yellow Jackets shot 294 during the final 18 holes to finish eight strokes ahead of second-place Oklahoma (868).

The Huskies were led by junior Conner Robbins (Bremerton), who shot 1-over 73 on Friday to finish the tournament tied fourth at 2-under 214. Robbins' finish was his best ever at a collegiate tournament. Brock Mackenzie shot 75 to place ninth overall at 217.

Georgia Tech's Troy Matteson won medalist honors with a 6-under score of 210, one shot better than Fresno State's Nick Watney.

John Robertson carded a 74 on Friday to finish in 44th place at 223. Washington's Dan Potter shot 75 during the final round to finish 50th at 224. Gordy Scutt shot 76 and finished 68th at 227.

The Huskies next tournament is March 4-5 at the Southwester Intercollegiate at Westlake, Calif.
