Erin Reed Wins Two at McDonald's II Open Track Meet

MOSCOW, Idaho -- Washington State women grabbed wins in five events while the Cougar men had four wins during the second and final day of the McDonald's II Open Meet Saturday at the Idaho Kibbie Dome.

Sophomore Erin Reed won the 60m dash (7.75 seconds) and led a one-two-three Cougar finish in the 200m dash (24.21 PR) with Ellannee Richardson second and Tiffany Giles third.

Other WSU women to win were Anna Blue in the 3000m, Shannon Rance in the shot put, and Brittany Hinchcliffe in the weight throw.

Anthony Buchanan won the men's 60m dash in a time equaling his lifetime-best and NCAA Provisional Qualifying time of 6.71 seconds. Bennie Chatman finished second in the race with a PR of 6.73 while Dan Brink was tied for 5th.

Oscar Franco-Parra won the mile in 4:16.48 while Paul Nicoletti won the pole vault and Tim Gehring claimed the shot put title for the men.

During the Saturday competition, Cougar men bettered 19 personal best marks and the WSU women tallied 10 lifetime-best marks.

Washington State travels to the Flagstaff, Arizona, next weekend for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 22-23). The Cougar men are the defending team champs while the women won the team title in both 2000 and 1999.
