Senior Gymnasts to be honored at Washington Meet

Tucson, Ariz. - The No. 12 University of Arizona women's gymnastics team will hold its annual 'Senior Night' against the Washington Huskies on Friday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. (MST). Three Arizona seniors- Lindsay Compitello, Nicci Filchner and Randi Liljenquist - will compete in the final home Pac-10 dual meet of their careers.
Compitello, Filchner and Liljenquist have served as tri-captains this season for the young Arizona squad.
Lindsay Compitello, from Downingtown, Pa., has competed in four meets for the Wildcats this year, posting a season-high 9.175 on beam at the Boise State-Brown meet (1/11). She has been a consistent beam worker for the Cats her entire career and holds career-highs on bars (9.475), beam (9.775) and floor (9.050).
Nicci Filchner, from Northampton, Pa., has competed in six meets for Arizona this season, and has a season-high 9.775 on bars against Stanford (2/1). Filchner recovered from shoulder surgery and has been one of the Wildcat's most consistent performers on bars. Her career-high on bars is 9.900, the ninth-best score in school history.
All-American Randi Liljenquist has competed in the all-around in each meet this season. So far this year, she has posted 30 top-five finishes and tied a career-high mark of 9.900 on vault against Boise State-Brown (1/11). In seven meets this year, Liljenquist has won six individual titles, which include three all-around titles, two beam titles and a vault title. Liljenquist holds many school individual records, including a career-high 10.000 on floor.
'Our three seniors have brought a lot of energy and leadership to our program,' head coach Bill Ryden said. 'Each gymnast has a unique personality and have made an impression on this team that will be hard to replace.'
The final home meet for the Wildcats will be a quadrangular meet against No. 11 Minnesota, Northern Illinois and Washington, Thursday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m (MST).
