Bruins Tied For Third After First Round Of Arizona Wildcat

The UCLA women's golf team is tied for third place, two shots behind the leader, after the first round at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, hosted by the University of Arizona at The Raven Golf Course.

The Bruins posted a team score of 296, eight-over par, and trail first place Arizona by two shots. Texas is second at 295. The Bruins are tied with Duke for third place and lead fourth place Auburn by one shot.

Individually, freshman Yvonne Choe posted a one-under par score of 71 and is in fifth place. Sophomore Melissa Martin is tied for 14th at 74 and sophomore Gina Umeck is tied for 27th at 75. Freshman Charlotte Mayorkas posted a score of 76 and is tied for 35th. Junior Vivan Phosomran shot a 77.

Arizona's Lorena Ochoa, who has won five straight tournaments, is tied for the lead with Auburn's Courtney Swaim at five-under par 67. Janice Olivencia of Texas is second at 68, four-under par.

The second round was suspended because of darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning prior to the start of the final round.
