Kara Brun Named Pac-10 Softball Player Of The Week

TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State shortstop Kara Brun has been named Pac-10 Softball Player of the Week for February 19 - 24, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Monday.

In five games at last weekend's NFCA Leadoff Classic Tournament, Brun, a junior from Glendale, Ariz., batted .500 (8-for-16) with three runs scored, three home runs, eight RBI and one double. She also tallied 18 total bases, a 1.125 slugging percentage and a .529 on-base percentage.

In Arizona State's win over 19th-ranked Notre Dame, Brun hit two home runs, including a walk-off two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. In her next game against 10th-ranked Michigan, Brun hit a three-run homer to put the Sun Devils up 6-0. The blast would later turn out to be the difference in a 6-4 victory over the Wolverines.

For the season, Brun is batting .365 with nine runs scored, four home runs and 16 RBI.

It is the first weekly honor for Brun and the 34th for Arizona State all-time.
