Women's T & F Team Travels To Seattle For Saturday's Last Chance Indoor Meet

Jeanette Bolden's UCLA women's track and field team, the two-time defending NCAA Indoor team champions, on Saturday (March 2) will compete at a 'last chance' indoor meet in Seattle, WA and hosted by the University of Washington. The meet begins at 10 a.m. in the UW Dempsey Indoor facility.
The Bruins will attempt to improve on already established marks and qualify more athletes to the upcoming 2002 NCAA Indoor T & F Championships on March 8-9 in Fayetteville, AR and hosted by the University of Arkansas. If UCLA qualifies enough athletes with potential scoring marks, the Bruins could contend for their third consecutive NCAA Indoor team championship.
Competing for the Bruins in Seattle will be junior Chaniqua Ross (throws), junior Tiffany Burgess (800m/relay), sophomores, Sheena Johnson (400m/relay), Sani Roseby (relay), Jessica Marr (relay), Lena Nilsson (800m/relay) and freshmen, Monique Henderson (200m/relay) and Briona Reynolds (throws).
Currently on the NCAA Indoor charts are - Henderson (23.88, No. 24) in the 200m, Johnson in the 400m (54.02, No. 19) and triple jump (41-5, No. 33), Nilsson (2:07.72, No. 15) in the 800m, Burgess (2:09.49, No. 46) in the 800m, UCLA's 4 X 400m relay (Roseby, Henderson, Burgess, Johnson, 3:37.57, No. 13), UCLA's distance medley relay (Burgess, Henderson, Marr, Nilsson, 11:21.18, No. 7), senior Darnesha Griffith (6-0, No. 8) in the high jump, senior Tracy O'Hara (14-3.50, No. 2) in the pole vault, sophomore Jessica Cosby in the shot put (55-7, No. 2) and weight throw (61-4.25, No. 29), Ross (52-4.50, No. 17) in the shot put, Reynolds (52-0.50, No. 20) in the shot put, sophomore Cari Soong (66-8, No. 7) in the weight throw and sophomore Lara Saye (58-3, No. 68) in the weight throw.
Looking ahead to the outdoor season, the Bruins' first home outdoor meet of the season will be Saturday, March 16 vs. California and Washington State in Drake Stadium.
