TUCSON--Jennie Finch scattered four hits and won her 52nd consecutivedecision to help lead Arizona to a 5-1 victory over Hawai'i and give theCats two wins on the first day of UA's Hillenbrand Invitational softballtournament.
Finch struck out nine and improved to 12-0.
Lovie Jung singled to lead off the first, stole second and scored on aone-out single by Jennie Finch. Finch moved to second on a wild pitch andscored on a single down the left-field line by Jenny Gladding to giveArizona (20-2) an early 2-0 lead.
Hawai'i (9-7) came right back with a run on an RBI single by Trisha Ramosin the top of the second, but then she and Denise Dalhberg from third werecaught stealing in a double play by UA catcher Mackenzie Vandergeest andshortstop Lovie Jung in a 2-6-2 play to end the rally.
Lovie Jung looped a single to right and Carrie Hagen bunted for a base hitto open the UA fifth. Finch grounded into a double play, but Leneah Manumasingled to right to drive in Jung. Designated player Gladding then lined anopposite-field home run to left for a 5-1 lead.
