Men's Golf Travels to California for Cleveland Southwest Invitational

EUGENE, Ore. - The Oregon men's golf team will travel to the Cleveland Southwest Invitational for the third time in as many years, Monday and Tuesday in Westlake Village, Calif. The Ducks will send seniors Aaron Byers and Chris Heniff, juniors John Ellis and Chris Carnahan and sophomore Mike Sica into action on the at the 6,815-yard, par-71 North Ranch Country Club.
Last year, rain shortened the tournament to two rounds and the Ducks struggled to a tenth place finish, shooting 606. Arizona State captured the tournament with 581. The Cleveland SW marked Oregon's lowest finish of the 2000-01, but the Ducks were only six strokes out of the top five. Aaron Byers and Matt Genovese proved Oregon's top finishers, tying for 40th at 10-over 152.
At Oregon's last competition, the Taylor Made Waikoloa, the Ducks tied for 20th. Individually, senior Aaron Byers tied for ninth place and secured his third top ten finish in five events this year. Byers shot a three-day total of 1-over 217.
