Husky Women's Golfers 11th at San Jose State

Salinas, CA - The Washington women's golf team is in 11th place after the opening round at San Jose State's Spartan Invitational being contested at Corral de Tierra Country Club. The Huskies shot 306 during the first round and trail tournament leader California by 17 strokes.

Kelli Kamimura and Louise Friberg led Washington during the first 18 holes with identical scores of 75. Both are tied for 21st place. Paige Mackenzie shot 76 to tie for 33rd. Washington's other scores included an 80 by Lindsay Morgan (57th) and an 85 by Michelle Grafos (71st).

California's Ria Quiazon lead the tournament with a 4-under 68.

The second round of play will take place Tuesday.
