Mackenzie Leads Cleveland Golf Classic After First Day

Westlake Village, CA - Washington sophomore Brock Mackenzie leads the field at the 25th annual Cleveland Golf Classic held at Northranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Mackenzie shot 139 during the opening 36 holes of play to claim a three-stroke lead over USC's Ben Hayes and Fresno State's Nick Watney.
Mackenzie shot 71 during the morning round and followed that up with a 3-under 68 during the second round.
Washington's other scores included a 148 (75-73) by Corey Prugh, who is in 17th place, a 153 (72-81) by Gordy Scutt, who is 47th, a 154 (75-79) by John Robertson, who is 53rd and a 155 (82-73) by Dan Potter for 60th.
USC took the team lead after the first two rounds with a score of 581. Oregon is second at 583 and Washington is third at (586), followed by Fresno State (587) and California (592). The Huskies shot 293 in both the first and second round.
The Cleveland Golf Classic finishes up on Tuesday, Mar. 5, with the final round beginning with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start off the 1st and 10th tees.
