Ducks End Cleveland Golf Classic Tied for Second

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.- The Oregon men's golf team concluded its two day tournament at the Cleveland Golf Classic in at Northranch Country Club hosted by USC on March 4-5. The Ducks tied for second with Washington scoring a 54-hole total of 867.

Aaron Byers led the Ducks with a one over par for a score of 214. Byers finished the tournament tied for fifth. John Ellis was right behind Byers in eighth place with 216. Chris Carnahan tied for 20th with 221 and Brandon Harnden was tied for 24th with 222. Mike Sica ended the tournament tied for 48th with a total score of 228.

'We played very well today and I am extremely proud of them,' coach Steve Nosler said after the tournament. 'It is crunch time for us and we needed to do well in the tournament, not just to win, but for our confidence as well. We had a strong finish and I could have not asked for anything else from these kids.'

USC led the way to win the tournament with a score of 864. Oregon and Washington not far behind with 867 tied for second and Fresno State takes fourth with 876. California ended the tournament with a fifth place finish with 883 out of the 16-team race.

The Ducks will take some time off and prepare for the Duck Invitational hosted by Oregon on March 25-26 at the Eugene Country Club.
