LOS ANGELES (AP) - Southern Cal looks to post its third straight win over Stanford this seasonas the two Pac-10 rivals face each other Thursday in the first round of thePac-10 tournament at Staples Center.

The 22nd-ranked Trojans (20-8) swept No. 16 Stanford this season, includinga 19-point victory that was the Cardinal's worst at home since 1993. USC won90-82 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

'We know they'll be gunning for us,' said USC's Sam Clancy, who has had 17games with double-figure scoring and rebounding this season.

Stanford features the Pac-10's leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker.Casey Jacobsen averages 22.2 points, while 7-footer Curtis Borchardt averages11.3 rebounds and 2.88 blocks.

The Trojans enter the first conference tournament since the 1989-90 seasonas the fourth seed, Stanford as the fifth seed.

USC posted its first win over Stanford on Jan. 26 at the Los Angeles SportsArena, as five Trojan players scored in double figures. Clancy scored 24points, grabbed 13 rebounds and collected four steals in the win.

Then on Feb. 21, the Trojans handed the Cardinal a 77-58 loss at MaplesPavilion as Clancy collected another double-double with 17 points and 11rebounds.

In each contest, Stanford coach Mike Montgomery cited USC's use of thefull-court press as a key factor.

'We need to attack their press better,' Montgomery said. 'They manage todisrupt our offense. They are big and strong ... we can't do anything aboutthat. USC does a good job of adjusting their press.'

Clancy paces the Trojans attack, averaging team-best totals of 19.2 pointsand 9.8 rebounds.

The backcourt of Errick Craven (12.1 ppg) and Brandon Granville (12.0 ppg)are also major scoring threats USC.

Ironically, USC coach Henry Bibby, who lists Jacobsen as his No. 1 focus, ischanging his once-positive stance on the Pac-10 tournament.

'Up until now, I thought it was a great idea,' Bibby said. 'But now, itcan help our chances or it can take away from our chances.'
