WSU Tennis Falls To No. 20 Washington

Spokane, Wash.---The No. 26 WSU women's tennis team lost to interstate rival No. 20 Washington 4-2 Saturday at the Spokane Racquet Club.

Washington opened the match by winning all three doubles matches and the doubles point. Erica Perkins and Stacy McKenna, the Cougar duo ranked 16th nationally, lost to Washington's No. 52 Claire Carter and Darija Klaic 8-4 at No. 1 doubles. WSU's Lorena Arias and Orsi Sallai came up short against Washington's Colleen Gray and Dea Sumantri at No. 2 double, losing 8-6. Cougars Chris Martinez and Zorana Roganovic lost to Huskies Andrea Coulter and Ilona Kordonskaya 9-8 at No. 3 doubles.

McKenna, a sophomore ranked 45th nationally, beat Klaic 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. WSU's other victory came at No. 4 singles when freshman Orsolya Sallai defeated UW's Gray 6-2, 6-2

The win dropped Washington State's record to 4-4.

The Cougars return to action Sunday against No. 16 Fresno State in Spokane.
