Cal Defeats Fresno State, 6-1

The University of California women's tennis team took on Fresno State on Saturday, and extended its dominance over non-conference teams at Hellman Tennis Complex with a 6-1 win over the Bulldogs.

The Bears, who have never lost to the Bulldogs, extended their winning streak over the nation's No. 16 team to 29.

Cal got things started right, winning all three doubles matches. Raquel Kops-Jones and Jody Scheldt upset the ITA's sixth-ranked tanem of Kim Niggemeyer and Simone Jardim, 9-7 on the top court.

In singles, the Bears took five of six matches, with Christina Fusano, Jieun Jacobs and Catherine Lynch shining in straight set victories.

The Bears will take ten days off before resuming play against the Texas Longhorns in Austin on March 26. Match time is set for 5:00 p.m, central time.
